Adwoa Aboah Wins Model of the Year at the 2017 Fashion Awards
Off-White™’s Virgil Abloh also takes home gold.
The results of the 2017 Fashion Awards are rolling in. Designer Jonathan Anderson is the first winner of the night, scoring the Accessories Designer of the Year Award as the creative director of Loewe. Gucci and Dior are also honored in the prestigious ceremony, with the former’s CEO Marco Bizzarri winning the Business Leader Award and Maria Grazia Chiuri receiving the Swarovski Award for Positive Change.
Winning against her fellow runway stars Kaia Gerber, Winnie Harlow and the Hadid sisters, Adwoa Aboah is crowned Model of the Year. The 25-year-old, who started her modelling career almost a decade ago, has been known not only for breaking the beauty standards of the industry, but also for her activism work at her empowering platform, Gurls Talk. Most recently, the model was tapped to front Edward Enninful’s first-ever edition of British Vogue.
Also taking home gold is Off-White™ helmer, Virgil Abloh. The cult-favorite designer, who’s been bridging the gap between luxury and streetwear, is presented the Urban Luxe Award by one of his go-to models, Hailey Baldwin.
