Watch Nigeria's Women Bobsled Team Explain How They Made Olympics History on 'Ellen'

“It’s like putting a 16-year-old driver in the Daytona.”

Ellen invited Nigeria’s record-breaking bobsled team to talk about their journey to becoming the first African team to qualify for the 2018 Olympic Winter games. Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga make up the historic trio of women who used their track and field background to accomplish the unthinkable. With limited training and resources, they were able to finish fifth in the Calgary games earning a spot in the 2018 games.

Dancing onto the stage of The Ellen Show, the ladies were elated to have made it this far without half of the experience of their competitors. They briefly explain the logistics of the sport, sharing that two women push while driver Adigun guides the vehicle through the race. Their story is one of perseverance, triumph and a little bit of fun as they are always sure to celebrate their victories, big or small, with a bit of dancing.
