A Major Balenciaga Exhibition Is Coming to London
A look back at the evolution of the fashion house.
Attention, fashion enthusiasts: save the date for Balenciaga‘s upcoming exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Entitled “Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion,” the show will display the work of the fashion house’s founder, Cristóbal Balenciaga, as well as that of his contemporaries including Demna Gvasalia, J.W.Anderson and Molly Goddard. As V&A’s exhibition curator Cassie Davies-Strodder puts it, the exhibit will explore Cristóbal’s “lasting impact on fashion” through the “recent garments” created by some of today’s most sought-after designers.
Comprised of three different sections, namely “Front of House,” “Workrooms” and “Balenciaga’s Legacy,” the exhibition will showcase more than 100 apparel pieces as well as a lineup of headwear. Visitors can also expect to see exclusive sketches, photos, fabric samples and archival runway footage.
“Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion” is set to launch at the V&A on May 27. Head over to the museum’s website for more information.
