Did Kendall and Kylie Jenner Copy Chanel's Slides for Their Own Line?
Imitation’s the sincerest form of flattery, right?
When the lookbook for Kendall + Kylie’s 2017 fall/winter collection was first revealed, we noticed several pieces that are right on par with what we’ve seen trending already. Take the tearaway bottoms and fur slides that remind us of Rihanna’s own from Fenty PUMA, for example. On Tuesday evening, Kendall Jenner revealed another version of the latter via Twitter, and followers were quick to point out that they also don’t appear to be original, alleging that the sisters ripped their design from Chanel.
The similarities between the luxury fashion house and the Jenners’ sandals are damning — both have layers of metallic chains draped over a leather base. There’s a huge price difference with Kendall + Kylie’s available for $125 USD at Nordstrom compared to the Chanel pair, pictured below, and its $1000 USD price tag. Considering the close relationship Kendall has with Karl Lagerfeld, could this just be chalked up to imitation being the sincerest from of flattery?
