Demna Gvasalia Brings Statement Dresses and Matching Bags to Balenciaga's 2017 Fall/Winter Show
With ‘The Matrix’-inspired sunglasses to complete.
Following his menswear presentation for Balenciaga earlier this year, Demna Gvasalia recently showcased the 2017 fall/winter womenswear collection for the brand during Paris Fashion Week.
Paying tribute to the fashion house’s heritage, the runway show sees a lineup of designs inspired by the brand’s archival collections. “I went through almost 30 years of photographs of Cristóbal’s lookbooks,” the designer explains to Vogue. Among the mix are coats worn as clutches, asymmetricly buttoned jackets and more. In celebration of the house’s 100th anniversary, the show wrapped up with a series of couture dresses — paired with giant matching Bazaar bags and sunglasses that look like they come straight out of The Matrix.
