Honoring International Women's Day With a "Tough As Nails" Editorial
Orchestrated by London creative Coco Mell.
Today we celebrate women past and present. March 8 is the day we stand up to represent a century-old movement that represents women’s equality and emancipation – made more special by the progressive and altitudinal change in society’s thoughts.
Stylist and creative Coco Mell took to WAH Nails in Soho, London to orchestrate her “Tough As Nails” editorial. On the inspiration, she remarked:
“I wanted to create a piece that supports the core principles of what I.W.D. represents – unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action.”
Brands like Filling Pieces, KENZO, MISBHV and more were styled to drive empowerment with a mantra that shouts “Go away conformities!” with an “IDGAF” attitude. Those who embodied the growth in the modern day social media wave graced the editorial with a strong and diverse note.
But there’s still a long way to go. Women are still prosecuted and are bogged down with sexism, discrimination and misogyny’s weight. Today – and all day’s moving ahead – is about achieving gender parity and to toast the strong women that surround us all.
Brands used: Ashley Williams, ASOS, Caine London, Cats Brothers, Emma Brewin, Fleet Ilya, Filling Pieces, G.H. Bass & Co., IKKS, Kangol, Kate Spade, KENZO, Kickers, MISBHV, Monki, Paul & Joe, Sisterhood, Rockins, Ruth Melbourne, Waven & WeSC
