Kendrick Lamar's "Humble" Is a Great Ode to Women's Stretch Marks

And slams whitewashing black models.

By now you may have already listened to and watched Kendrick Lamar’s Mike WiLL Made-It-produced “Humble.” The Compton-rapper returned with the new video having just released “The Heart Part 4” last week.

But what perhaps stands out most is a declaration against Photoshop – in particular, whitewashing black models. He raps:

“I’m so fuckin’ sick and tired of the Photoshop
Show me somethin’ natural like afro on Richard Pryor
Show me somethin’ natural like ass with some stretch marks”

He included a side-by-side comparison showing a model au naturel versus in makeup and also made a shout out to stretch marks. It’s a loud salute to natural beauty and prompted great reactions including Amandla Stenberg who instantly voiced her support on Instagram.

The rapper’s long been a vocal artist on socio-political matters and “Humble” is no exception. Watch the video up above.
