Balenciaga's New Bag Is Basically a $2,150 USD IKEA Tote
Demna Gvasalia strikes again.
Inspiration comes from any and everywhere for Demna Gvasalia, from a political campaign to courier delivery service and the Asian launderer. The man behind Vetements and Balenciaga has done it again — does the new Arena tote seem familiar at all? In our opinion, it looks a lot like IKEA’s most iconic bag you already may or may not own yourself.
The 99-cent FRAKTA has long been a favorite for its indestructible, heavy-duty design that can carry up to 19 gallons of whatever you put in it. However Balenciaga’s version has a $2,150 USD price tag but is crafted from calfskin and finished with a gold Balenciaga logo, if that’s any consolation. Made in Italy and available online, the Arena is definitely not a tote you’ll want to lug your dirty clothes around the city in.
