Home to HQ’s for industry giants Nike and the breeding ground for sneaker labels Filling Pieces and ETQ, it’s pretty clear that the Dutch are streets ahead when it comes to sneakers. MAHA
MAHA is pretty much the ultimate destination for streetwear and sneaker-obsessed girls in Amsterdam – the entire store is curated with women in mind. They play host to unrivalled product selection available for girls, stocking everything from the newly-released Air Max Jewell and Fenty PUMA Bow sneakers to adidas UltraBOOSTs and Reebok Freestyle Highs. A bonus addition from MAHA comes in the form of its clothing and accessories department where they combine well-known names like Nike and Vans with smaller emerging brands like the homegrown label Dezeep and Poland-based Neige. If you’re venturing to the south of the Netherlands, Epic has got to be high up on your hit-list. Re-issue is an icon on the Dutch sneaker scene, having opened its first physical store way back in 2005. While times and sneaker tastes have changed, Re-issue has remained ahead of the curve and is still the go-to destination for streetwear and sneakers out with Amsterdam. With clothing and accessories from brands like Stussy, By Parra and Daily Paper and kicks from all the usual contenders as well as European brands like ARKK and Filling Pieces, Re-issue is a store worth venturing outside of the capital for.

Baskèts
Baskèts has been showcasing RTW clothing and sneakers to the city of Amsterdam since 2012 and it’s easy to see why they’ve become a mainstay on the sneaker scene. Combining streetwear labels and pieces from their in-house label with the freshest kicks from staple brands like adidas, Nike, PUMA and more, Baskèts has a solid product base available in women’s sizes. Our faves from their collection include the Nike WMNS Air Max 95 PRM and the ASICS GEL-Kayano. Although the retailer’s online offering is limited, its two Amsterdam stores are well-stocked and worth a pit stop.

No Boys Allowed
No Boys Allowed is exactly what it says on the label — a store just for girls. Launched in 2008, NBA is a one-stop destination for sneakers that only come in ladies sizes. NBA’s diverse collection includes Karhu Arias, Diadora N.9000 Double Ls and the iconic chunky ’90s-style FILA Disruptor IIs, as well as staple styles from adidas, Nike and New Balance. They even have their own label ‘No Boys Allowed’ slogan tees — a perfect souvenir for your time well spent in this femme-friendly store.

Sunika is inspired by Japanese sneaker culture (the term ‘sunika’ is literally the Japanese translation of ‘sneaker’) and the Japanese inspo remains clear in everything from the minimal in-store decor to the products and brands it stocks. With the latest iterations of the PUMA Platform sneakers, Reebok Club C 85s and Copenhagen’s coveted unisex sneaker label ARKK in hard-to-cop sizes (36 2/3, anyone?), Sunika is a must-see for anyone visiting the west side of Amsterdam.
