The 'FRUiTS' Magazine x Opening Ceremony Collaboration Is Pure Harajuku Nostalgia
In honor of the final issue.
Opening Ceremony has teamed up the iconic FRUiTS magazine for a special project near to Humberto Leon’s heart. FRUiTS founder Shoichi Aoki captured photos of Japanese street style in the Harajuku district for almost two decades before recently announcing the magazine’s end. Aoki shared the sad news with Spoon & Tamago in February, adding that ”there were no more fashionable kids to photograph.”
To commemorate the final publication, Opening Ceremony will hold pop-up trunk shows in New York and Los Angeles. The installation will feature – and sell – archival vintage issues alongside FRUiTS stamped tees and hoodies retailing for $35 to $75 USD.
The collab is available online and in-store at Opening Ceremony New York now. It will land in the Los Angeles store on May 25. In the meantime, scroll through Humberto Leon‘s favorite FRUiTS snaps below.
