'The Keepers' Could Be Netflix's Next 'Making a Murderer'
A tale about sexual abuse at an all-girls Catholic high school.
You binge-watched Netflix’s Making a Murderer and the next great murder mystery is here. The Keepers dates back to an unsolved murder 40 to 45 years ago.
The story is connected to director Ryan White’s own background – his aunt’s teacher at her Catholic high school was a 26-year-old nun named Sister Catherine “Cathy” Cesnik. She disappeared in 1969 and while her body turned up two months later, her death was never solved.
The Keepers is about her death and what she knew when she died. But it’s more than that – at its heart, the documentary is about “child sexual abuse survivors and the adults who abused them in Baltimore.”
Jean Wehner and “Jane Roe” have long accused the all-girls Catholic school chaplain, Father Joseph Maskell. Watch the trailer above.
