Goodbye Haters: Bella Hadid Gets Real About Her Modelling Career
“I worked my ass off for two years.”
Bella Hadid is simply unstoppable. At the age of 20, she’s already the face of multiple international brands, landing major campaigns for Nike, Versus Versace, Chrome Hearts and more. As the cover girl of InStyle‘s 2017 August issue, the younger Hadid sister now speaks candidly about her job and the fame that comes with it.
The supermodel says in the interview:
…people think modeling is just a bullsh— thing to become more famous. I was 100 percent independent by the time I was 18, and I paid for my own apartment. That wasn’t because of my parents. I worked my ass off for two years.
Being in the spotlight at such a young age, the It girl admits that it could get stressful when dealing with negative feedback on social media. She explains:
They’ll say that I had a conversation with someone I’ve never even met before. Or people will judge me for things I can’t change. Imagine that somebody is telling you that you’re a piece of sh— every day on social media. You kind of feel like, “Well, am I a piece of s—?” You don’t really know.
Set in the French countryside, the editorial sees the It girl channeling her inner royalty while donning pieces by brands including Dior, Fendi and Off-White™.
