Lauren Tsai Is Bound to Be the Next It Girl in Tokyo
She’s creating her own world outside of Netflix’s reality show, ‘Terrace House.’
Between original series and blockbuster films, there’s a Japanese reality show on Netflix that you didn’t know you’ve been missing out on. Dubbed Terrace House, the program became an instant hit not only in Japan, but also among Western audiences. The premise of the show is simple: six young people with different talents and aspirations share a house and spend time together all day every day, in front of a camera.
One of those participants who agreed to be filmed around the clock is Massachusetts-born model and illustrator, Lauren Tsai. Featured in the show’s latest season set in Hawaii, the 19-year-old is easily one of the coolest girls you’ll ever meet. Despite her young age, Lauren knows exactly what she wants and is determined to give it all she has to realize her dreams. The aspiring artist is never seen without her sketchbook and paint brushes. After hosting her first solo exhibition earlier this year, she’s stepped up her modelling career by moving to Tokyo (she taught herself Japanese before leaving for the fashion capital, NBD). In less than a year, the budding It girl has landed major campaigns with brands like Uniqlo, and has even walked in various runway shows alongside the likes of Kiko Mizuhara. It’s safe to say that there are only bigger and better things to come for this rising star.
