All hail, Chitose Abe.

For Sacai‘s 2018 pre-spring presentation at Paris Fashion Week Men’s, Chitose Abe once again proves that she is one of today’s most exciting voices in womenswear. Displaying her hallmark aesthetic of cut-and-sew tailoring, the latest program further investigates the delicate balance between “the intent of the creator and the subjective interpretation of the receiver,” according to a press release from Sacai. By taking clothes from the everyday and elevating them, Abe forges an entirely new context altogether.

An example of such artistic repurposing is the typographic artwork of American artist Lawrence Weiner, seen on all-over prints rendered on select pieces. Along with a fringe-accented jacket and a pleated floor-length dress, the range was a formidable display of how to reinvent the familiar.
