After 20 years and numerous collaborations, Paris’ first concept store colette has just announced via Instagram that it will be shutting up shop as of December 20 this year. Rumor has it that Saint Laurent is already in talks to snap up the three-story, 8,000-square-foot space on the iconic Rue Saint-Honoré. In a statement that accompanied an Instagram announcement, the brand said:
“As all good things must come to an end, after 20 wonderful years, colette should be closing its doors on December 20 of this year. Colette Roussaux has reached the time when she would like to take her time; and colette cannot exist without Colette.
Until our last day, nothing will change. colette will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings, also available on our website colette.fr.
We would be proud to have a brand with such a history, with whom we have frequently collaborated, taking over our address. We are happy of the serious interest expressed by Saint Laurent in this project, and it could also represent a very good opportunity for our employees.”
It’s sad news for lovers of the cult store worldwide, but with five months remaining of colette’s expertly-curated product offering, there’s never been a better excuse to get shopping. Catch the full statement from the store regarding its closure in the Instagram post below.
