Emily Ratajkowski: "People Don't Want to Work With Me Because My Boobs Are Too Big"
She opens up about sexuality on ‘Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s new cover.
Emily Ratajkowski is never one to hide her body, using it to address body image and challenge public opinion – like that highly publicized topless Instagram with Kim Kardashian.
On the latest Harper’s Bazaar Australia, she made it known that sexist double standards do plague her career:
“There’s this thing that happens to me: ‘Oh, she’s too sexy’,” she says. “It’s like an anti-woman thing, that people don’t want to work with me because my boobs are too big. What’s wrong with boobs? They’re a beautiful feminine thing that needs to be celebrated. Like, who cares? They are great big, they are great small. Why should that be an issue?”
She’s long-maintained that there’s an intolerable cultural reaction to women owning their sexuality and bodies, telling Harper’s Bazaar in a previous interview:
“You know, when Lena Dunham takes her clothes off, she gets flack, but it’s also considered brave; when Justin Bieber takes his shirt off, he’s a grown-up. But when a woman who is sexual takes off her top, it plays into something.”
The cover hits stands on August 3. In the meantime, check out Ratajkowski’s new collaboration with The Kooples.
