Louis Vuitton Gets Undressed for Our "Intimacy" Editorial
HYPEBAE interprets the mythical thigh-high boot.
We first saw Rihanna adding her own personal touch to a Manolo Blahnik pair. Then came Demna Gvsalia with his now cult-status Balenciaga hot pink velvet rework, placing his own respective spin on the mythical fashion item. Now, we at HYPEBAE interpret them for ourselves: the ever elusive thigh-high boot. Working with photographer Kara Chung, we have created a narrative in which the concept of “Intimacy” supports an unsettling caricature of contemporary fashion stripped back to the basics.
Depicting various stages of undress, stylist Rebecca Lam also creates an array of sets that seems to evoke a surrealist interpretation of banal objects. The result is a stark contrast between luxury and the everyday. Serving as the centrepieces of the spread is a selection of pieces from Louis Vuitton’s 2017 pre-fall collection – from lavishly minimalistic boots to a zipped cape, nothing is off limits in this pared down rendition of opulence.
