Demna Gvasalia has really been shaking things up during his reign at Spanish luxury fashion house, Balenciaga. Bringing his unconventional Vetements sensibility to the nearly 100-year old brand, he’s reinterpreted the traditional couture look with sportswear elements and brought a new lease of life to the label by reinventing it for the contemporary consumer.
The next step in Demna’s creative masterplan to redevelop the brand sees him take aim at the logo. Although the text logo has always been fairly minimal, with spaced-out font in monochrome black and white the new adaptation, which was teased on Instagram, switches to black text on a dark grey background. The once wide-set text has also been condensed, giving it more of a high-impact feel at first glance.
The brand has already begun putting this new logo into use so it won’t be long until we see this all over the next batch of branded products Balenciaga roll out. Do you prefer the old logo or the updated rendition?
