Titled “Original Pirate Material,” the overarching theme was evident in everything from the set (which featured a wave-like runway and an giant ship, FYI) to the loose-fit, technicolor wave-print clothes, chic pirate hats and tinsel-covered sandals that were sent down the runway. Subtle embroidery and hand-knitted fabrics added additional depth to the collection, and this season’s hottest accessory – the oversized fanny pack – was prevalent, proving it will still likely be the go-to carryall for the season ahead.
Backstage, we got a closer look into the extent of the attention-to-detail behind the collection. The makeup team, led by Ciara O’Shea, did a stellar job of translating the theme into eye-catching yet easily wearable beauty looks, all with The Body Shop‘s cruelty-free cosmetics range. Vivid hues of pink, orange and blue were swept across the eyelids, complementing the model’s fresh, slightly sun-kissed skin. Textured beach waves and braids were the main looks when it came to hair – exactly what you’d imagine chic pirates to be sporting as they sail across the high seas.
