The beauty industry took over NYFW with little to no warning. The launch of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty overshadowed all things fashion-related and for good reason. Attendees spent more time staring at the faces of models than they did the clothes and that’s due to the innovation that is taking place in the industry.
We got a chance to take a look at the next generation of beauty products seen backstage at some of the hottest shows. From mascaras to hair products, here is a list of the five items that we spotted whose launches we can’t wait for.
IGK Pre-Party Hair Strobing Glitter Spray
“It’s like a highlighter but for your hair” quips Aaron Grenia, co-founder of cool-girl haircare brand IGK. IGK’s Pre-Party glitter spray is a strobing spray that gives your locks a light, but lustrous sheen. Think more holographic highlighter and less glitter hairspray that you get from the Halloween store. Lucky for us this spray is set to launch at Sephora on September 26th.
Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara
Spotted backstage at Public School’s Spring 2018 show on Sunday, lead makeup artist Grace Lee gave us a sneak peek of Maybelline’s newest mascara set to launch in January 2018. “It’s almost too amazing, one layer is almost too much” says Lee. Not only does the new mascara give you long, full lashes but it is infused with coconut oil, so it smells amazing while nourishing the lashes.
MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colors
MAC has a knack for debuting new products backstage during fashion events and this season we spotted two life-changing products that we can’t wait to get our hands on. Backstage at the Brandon Maxwell show, MAC senior artist Regan Rabanal shared an image of 28 new shades of MAC’s new Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colors to his personal Instagram. The best part? The combo of opaque and chrome colors can also be used on cheeks and eyelids, as liquid highlighters. Unfortunately, there isn’t a release date yet but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
MAC Eyebrow Styler
MAC senior makeup artist Michael Patterson shared a snap of MAC’s newest Eyebrow Styler to his personal Instagram to clue his followers in on the products he’d be using for the week. The eyebrow styler is double-sided with a spoolie on one end and a pencil on the other. It’s also supposed to be smudge-proof and last up to 12 hours — two powerful claims. This super brow tool is set to launch at the beginning of next year with an exact date still TBD.
Stila Shimmer & Glow Eyeshadow
The sister of Stila’s Glitter & Glow, Shimmer & Glow is a new liquid eyeshadow that we saw backstage at the BCBG show. Celebrity MUA and creative artistry director of Stila Sarah Lucero dabbed the new eyeshadow in the shade “Jezebel” on the center of the eyelids to finish off the peachy, glowing looks. There’s no word yet on a release date but according to Lucero, we should be able to add this glitzy liquid eyeshadow (along with a set of additional colors) to our makeup bags come Spring 2018.
