Slick Woods Explains What LA Means to Her for WCKDTHGHTS' Latest Campaign
Watch this HYPEBAE exclusive.
For the Spring/Summer 2018 season, WCKDTHGHTS introduces its ambitious #WHATISLA2YOU campaign. Tapping LA-bred creatives such as Slick Woods, BornxRaised‘s Spanto, Jay305, Spoety and Huey Briss, the brand asks each and everyone one what the City of Angels stands for to them. In a HYPEBAE exclusive, we see the unfiltered response from Slick Woods herself.
“LA is so extreme, bro. It’s either the worst day of your life, or like it could be the best day of your life,” the Fenty Beauty model laughs in a truly honest response to the campaign’s hovering question. As she goes on to explain what her native Venice Beach home was like as she was growing up, she poignantly ends her answer with this lingering thought, “This ain’t the place to make your money – this is the place to spend your money. Don’t get it twisted…It’s very easy to have fun and be broke here, so you get real comfortable and complacent.”
Aligned with the restock of its infamous “Bodybag Boys” hoodie, the new range features a selection of pastel-colored hoodies in hues of pink, blue, green and purple, as well as iterations in black and yellow. With the brand’s cursive logo sitting on the front of the chest, the unmistakable bodybag graphic is boldly emblazoned across the back. Featuring the words “BODYBAG BOYS” soaring in an arch just below the shoulder blades, the remaining space features a slightly jarring illustration of a woman tied up in a twisted version of kinbaku (Japanese bondage), and carried like a briefcase by a disembodied hand.
