Off-White™ and RIMOWA Are Collaborating on a Line of Transparent Suitcases

Pack carefully.

Purveyor of luxury luggage, RIMOWA, is no stranger when it comes to a hype collaboration – its black and red Supreme suitcases were one of the most coveted drops in recent times. Following that success, the German brand is continuing its wave of popularity by partnering with another of streetwear’s biggest labels – Off-White™.

Alexandre Arnault, the co-chief executive of RIMOWA who first teased the upcoming collab on his Instagram last year, explained to BoF “At LVMH, we have a saying that we like to be between tradition and modernity. RIMOWA is a 120-year-old brand and what we’re doing with Virgil is a great example of modernity.”

Designed by Virgil Abloh, who was recently unveiled as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton men’s, the luggage boasts an entirely transparent outer shell with black hardware and a diagonal-print  Off-White™ luggage tag. There are removable black organizers included within the case, which boast the word “MISCELLANEOUS” in the brand’s signature style. There also appears to be an additional set of wheels in a vibrant orange hue that can be swapped out if you prefer a pop of color on your case. Discussing the product, Abloh stated:

“It’s like 3.0 of personalisation. It’s not just putting your initials on it but allowing another layer to come in play. There’s an emotional component to owning [the suitcase] and you become a performance art piece just by using the thing. It’s like putting your items on display and rethinking the premise of a product.”

One thing’s for sure, if you manage to cop a case you’ll have to be extra-organized and careful when it comes to packing. Take a sneak peek at the pieces above and keep an eye out for the official debut at Off-White™’s menswear show in Paris on June 20. Arnault also disclosed that RIMOWA have a collaboration with Parisian streetwear label NASASEASONS in the works – stay tuned for more info on that.
