Updating its roster of classic kicks, Converse introduces the EV3 into its ranks. With understated details, the sneaker possesses the ability to seamlessly meld with a myriad of styling options, from elevated to casual looks. Recently, we tapped Matthew Henson, a Brooklyn-based stylist with over 10-years of fashion experience, alongside helming coveted positions at media organizations. With a clean aesthetic and a deft understanding of luxury fashion, the creative has built a rapport in the industry for his deftness in dressing high-profile musicians, where he not only imbues his own personal cues into his clients but works with the entertainers to build a discrete aesthetic together. Illustrating his prowess, the lookbook for the new low-tops examines the fashion possibilities one can construct with the footwear.

Though a new silhouette for the Boston-based imprint, the footwear balances vintage aesthetics as it tries to encapsulate contemporary chunky trends. Embroidered embellishments, like the iconic Converse star chevron logo, are stitched over a tumbled leather upper, and allude to the brand’s heritage while accenting the offering with a contrasting color.

Utilizing two colorways, one with red and the other with black highlights, the lookbook—backdropped by Coney Island—spotlights Henson’s craft. Playing with EV3’s minimalistic build, his style treatment complements the model through his use of garments that feature an absence of graphics and minimal ornamentation while playing with loose, flowing shapes. Without overshadowing or getting lost within the clothes, the shoes’ construction brings the outfits together.

With understated details, the sneaker possesses the ability to seamlessly meld with a myriad of styling options, from elevated to casual looks. Illustrating the kick’s fashion possibilities, we tapped stylist Dianne Garcia to elevate the offering. Humbly starting her career in retail, she refined her talent through her constant assistant styling. Catching her first break with Kendrick Lamar, Garcia has been the go-to for the “Be Humble” artist and TDE singer, SZA. And with working around a street oriented palette, she uses her craft to elevate the music and visually communicate the sound to the entertainer’s listeners.
