UPDATE: Maisie Williams' App for Creatives, Daisie Launches Worldwide

The platform dropped in beta mode last year.

Maisie Williams’ app, Daisie that previously was released in beta mode last August has officially launched globally. Daisie was co-founded by Dom Santry, upon its release 35,000 creatives requested early access to the platform. In a press release, the app is described as a place where creators can “access the community and tools they need to bring their projects to life.”

Once users sign up and create a profile, they’ll be able to: connect with local and global creators, work collaboratively on projects in addition to finding an audience. Areas of expertise that are explored within the app include film, photography, writing, design, art, digital and makeup to name a few.

Later in the press release, Santry shares more details about the past two years leading up to Daisie’s official launch:

“Whilst building Daisie, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the effect emerging audiences are having on consumer trends. In that time, generic perception of what it means to be ‘online’ have shifted. Even two years ago, connectivity was less absolute; it was easier to switch off and disconnect, to become non-accessible and non-reachable. We’re welcoming a new generation to the internet with large like counts and global viral videos as examples of success. Daisie is a multifaceted platform and can be used for a variety of different things, but ultimately it is a service to be used as a catalyst for offline growth, and hopefully one that will generate happiness and success.”

Daisie is currently available on desktop and IOS. Head over to the app’s official website for more details.

Back in May, Games of Thrones star Maisie Williams put out a call for creative contributors for her project Daisy 100. Following up on the successful project geared towards creating a community of fellow creators and artists, Williams has officially rolled out an app, Daisie. Williams is a co-founder alongside 21-year-old film producer Dom Santry. Santry also fills the role of CEO, while Maisie serves as its chief innovation officer.

The tech industry has notably been heralded for its new age creations which are self-serving. One example being the 2016 launch of online startup TaskRabbit in 2016, which is now helmed by CEO Stacy Brown-Philpot. In contrast, Williams’ brainchild, Daisie, looks to tap into the creative marketplace. In an official press release, Daisie is expressed as a way to, “revolutionize the way young people use social media.”

Williams has hope that the app will close the gap that exists for aspiring creatives. For many budding artists, industry leaders seem unattainable due to location and a lack of connections. But with the help of Daisie, users can gain exposure and guidance from experts through a medium titled “Question Time.” This section of the app allows users to participate in a live question and answer. After the live segment, an exclusive short film follows which focuses on reviewing submitted projects, answering additional questions and recapping their creative journey.

Daisie is currently available in the App Store for iOS devices.
