Released alongside a three-part video campaign that celebrates creatives in love with color.

KITH is releasing the new Ronnie Fieg x New Balance Colorist 1700 in two beautifully color-blocked looks on January 31, the name referencing the limited quantities in which the shoe will be dropped. There will only be 1,700 pairs produced between the two styles and they will only be available for purchase via KITH online or in-store.

Ronnie Fieg’s relationship with New Balance is a longstanding one. The most recent addition to the KITH x NB line sees Fieg reimagine the Made in USA 1700 sneaker as part of the Kith x New Balance Colorist Capsule. The designer’s main aim for this collaboration was to use ten different colors on each pair. Each color chosen by Fieg across both pairs was then crafted out of premium pigskin suede, lending to the creation of two very cohesive and sleek looking sneakers, somewhat too perfect to even be worn. Both pairs have asymmetrical branding on the heels – KITH and Fieg being spelled in New Balance’s OG font – and both come with custom printed insoles and three color options for laces, as necessary for a shoe this multifaceted.

The use of color is the primary focus of this release. Ronnie Fieg, Creative Director & Founder of KITH, spoke about the thought process behind the sneakers, stating that “I have always been obsessed with color and visuals since I was a kid. After building Kith for 9 years, I think the palette has always been at the front of my mind for what we look and feel like as a brand. That’s why I consider myself a colorist. And that mentality is the basis of this campaign, where we identified creatives in other professions who are incredible colors in their space.”

This is an additional quirk to the release, once more reaffirming the spotlight on the possibilities of color. A three-part video campaign will be pushed alongside the shoe release that will limelight select creatives with a penchant for color, those that are embedding it into both their work and their play.
