Girl on Kicks Drops Her "It’s A Man’s World" Reebok Daytona DMX
“I chose purple as it embodies feminism – it also stands for loyalty and dignity.”
For the fifth installment of Reebok’s “It’s a Man’s World” campaign, the sportswear label has finally released Sanne Poeze‘s (a.k.a Girl on Kicks) Daytona DMX. The collaborative drop features a purple iteration of the futuristic silhouette that represents a belief that feminism and femininity are not mutually exclusive. The Amsterdam-based sneakerhead said in a press release:
“I want to use this platform to inspire other girls who love sneakers. I chose purple as it embodies feminism – it also stands for loyalty and dignity, and I love that. I don’t feel that I need to be tough or super badass to be taken seriously, and that’s what I really wanted to show in this shoe – what defines me. I want girls to feel unapologetic about being feminine and emotional. I want to send a message that we as women can be sensitive and strong at the same time.”
Two different hues of purple appear on the sneaker’s upper arriving in a mix of leather and suede fabric, while luxe snakeskin-printed leather can be found on the mudguard. Additionally, the chalk-white sole features a pop of electric orange as well as on the collar. Take a look at the editorial images in the gallery above.
