UPDATE: 'Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout' Developers Ban Cheaters Ruining the Game
Players had been seeing hackers use third-party tools for unfair advantage.
UPDATE (August 12, 2020): Having asked players to individually report any hackers within the game, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout‘s developers have quickly improved its detection tools to ban cheaters.
Just a week into its launch, players had already been seeing some users gaining unfair advantage by running faster or floating with the help of third-party software. Responding to the issue, Mediatonic announced their latest update via Twitter: “It’s now no longer necessary to report individual cheaters, since we’ve been tuning our detection criteria we’ve noticed a large drop in cheaters — getting better! A huge thank you to everyone who has been playing the game fairly, you’re all awesome, and we love you!”
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has been a new title to watch, reaching more than two million players on Steam in five days since its August 4 release. You can play the game now via PlayStation 4 or Microsoft Windows.
ORIGINAL STORY (August 10, 2020): Having surpassed two million players on Steam in just five days since its release, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has become a rising video game to watch this season. Following its August 4 debut, players have already discovered hacks to cheat in order to win the battle royale title.
For those unaware of UK-based studio Mediatonic‘s latest, Fall Guys is an online multiplayer game where 60 players overcome obstacles to survive as the last one standing. In order to get ahead of other users, gamers have found ways to run faster and float within each round. “We are working as quickly as we can to address this issue in the game. Cheating and other hacks to boost performance takes away from the enjoyment of everyone and we are actively working to address this now,” a Mediatonic representative told Gamespot.
Players have also been taking to platforms like YouTube, Twitter and Reddit to share their hacks. “Pathetic isn’t it? Cheating in one of the most casual, child-friendly games ever. This is why we can’t have nice things,” one user commented in a Fall Guys subreddit. Others have been speculating the use of third-party software for in-game manipulation. “There are already existing programs capable of letting players fly, teleport, and speed hack that anybody can go and download right now. The number of cheaters is just going to rise as word gets around,” a Redditor added.
While the game currently does not have a feature for reporting in-game cheating, Mediatonic has advised players to share any hackers they come across via Discord and Reddit.
