Airbnb Is Offering a Full K-Pop Experience for Fans
The virtual festival will feature “mukbang” sessions with Monsta X, makeup tutorials with Jamie and more.
With global travel restrictions in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, Airbnb is launching a digital experience for K-pop fans. Dubbed Inside K-Pop, the program will take guests on a virtual tour of everything Korean, from food and music, to beauty and crafts.
Comprised of 14 activities total, the online festival features rising names in the K-pop industry. Monsta X will be guiding guests through a session of mukbang (eating show) with some of their favorite convenience store meals. Meanwhile, The Boyz will run a crafts class inside a Hanok (traditional Korean home), where they make beaded bracelets for each other. Jamie will be sharing her K-beauty makeup routine, while AleXa will offer a journey through the life of a K-pop star with her dance moves.
“Inside K-Pop is a virtual passport to the magic of Seoul at a time when travel remains restricted, offering unprecedented access to some of K-pop’s biggest names both in front of and behind the curtain,” Airbnb’s Global Head of Hosting Catherine Powell shares in a press release. “We are so excited for would-be travelers to connect with this vibrant community and see the joy these extraordinary talents will bring to a global audience as hosts of Airbnb Online Experiences.”
Inside K-Pop is slated to run from January 24 to 29 in English, Korean, Chinese and Japanese. Priced at $20 USD each, the online experiences will be available for online booking from 6 p.m. EST on January 20 on a first-come-first-serve basis.
