If you’re on TikTok, you’re probably familiar with Emily Mariko — the influencer who has taken social media by storm with her clean kitchen and soothing voice, in addition to her viral salmon rice bowl recipe.

The dish, one of Mariko’s many healthy meals, has become widely loved for its easy preparation. All it needs is some cooked salmon and rice, which are heated in the microwave under a sheet of greaseproof paper and an ice cube that helps with keeping the rice moist. The dish is then topped off with condiments like soy sauce, mayonnaise and sriracha, alongside some kimchi and avocado.

Ingredients

While the original recipe calls for leftover salmon and white rice, you can get creative by adding other protein options of your choice, such as tuna. However, to replicate the viral salmon rice bowl, here’s what you will need:

  • Leftover cooked salmon fillet
  • Leftover white rice
  • Avocado
  • Kimchi
  • Soy sauce

  • Kewpie mayonnaise
  • Dried seaweed, or nori

Preparation

1. Put your salmon and rice in a microwaveable plate or bowl.

2. Stick an ice cube in the middle and cover the bowl with a sheet of greaseproof paper.

3. Microwave until hot.
