FILA Revisits the Past for Its 110th Anniversary Collection

The iconic sportstyle brand celebrates a milestone year with statement pieces inspired by skiing.

Since the brand was founded in 1911, FILA has continued to solidify itself as a leader in fashion, sport and lifestyle. Founded in Biella, Italy, FILA has consistently created products that represent individuality, power and style; three elements that make up the brand’s DNA. With over half a century of experience and years of setting trends, FILA now celebrates its 110th Anniversary with a special edition collection.

In honor of the brand’s milestone anniversary, the collection features a knitwear series in collaboration with the Italian brand, Piacenza Cashmere. This is one of many partnerships with Italian designers that FILA has released this year, as previous launches included MSGM and Acqua di Parma

For this latest collection, FILA tapped stylist and culture curator Katie Grand to help develop a series of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories that reimagine past iconic statement pieces from FILA’s history. Using her style savvy, Grand redesigned a series of archival fashions, while adding a contemporary flair. Her innate talent fused with the timeless appeal of the two collaborators produced the re-editions of 70’s and 80’s classics, including the Argyle, Snow Time and White Rock sweaters.

Crafted using the finest of cashmere yarn from FILA’s birthplace, the sweaters honor iconic brand elements such as FILA’s signature white, red and navy hues, while receiving an update with added shades of vibrant yellow, orange and emerald green. The knitwear items represent FILA’s status as an athletic-wear icon, as they were inspired by the brand’s history in skiing.

Additional pieces in the collection, such as the Men’s Ski Jacket, were also influenced by the winter sport. The rain jacket comes directly from the Ski Team Italia line and was a favorite of professional athletes, Deborah Compagnoni and Alberto Tomba in the 90’s. Fashioned in a colorful palette, the style makes a statement but still serves as a practical piece for daily wear.

Rounding out the exclusive line are the final two wool items, the Unisex Cashmere Winter Beanie and the Women’s Cashmere Girdle Skirt. Both products feature the same colorway with navy, red and white being the primary shades. These two pieces, along with all the items in the collection, come with the added touch of the iconic FILA F-Box logo, originally designed in 1973 by Sergio Privitera.

With this collaboration FILA maintains its innovative spirit, by revisiting the past and reimagining the future to create these special edition pieces. The collection, which first appeared at Milan Fashion Week earlier this year, comes in a limited edition collector’s box. For each of the eight styles in the line, only 500 units have been produced, with prices ranging from $118 USD to $628 USD.

To shop the FILA 110th Anniversary Collection, visit FILA.com or select multi-brand stores worldwide on October 26th, for the exclusive launch.
