teamLab Unveils New Floating Lamps Art Installation

Along with an accompanying teacup-inspired immersive experience.

Having just launched its “TikTok teamLab Reconnect” installation, teamLab is set to reveal two other immersive experiences at the former Fukuoka Soy Sauce Building. Dubbed Tea Time in the Soy Sauce Storehouse, the artworks come in the form of floating lamps and illuminating teacups.

“Spontaneous order occurs when different rhythms influence one another and eventually synchronize,” teamLab said in a press release. “The pendulums of two clocks hanging on the wall, the collective luminescence of fireflies, and the rhythmic motion of heart cells are all examples of systems – physical phenomena, neurophysiology, life systems, ecology – in which this tendency can be observed. “

The “Floating Lamps in Spontaneous Order – the Old Soy Sauce Storehouses” is filled with water that spreads out in the basement of the vicinity. Each lamp is autonomous and blinks at various rhythms. The light from the lamp also creates a spontaneous order with the “Tea in Spontaneous Order” artwork. When the cup is filled with tea, the liquid releases a sound, which shines and fades.

teamLab’s Tea Time in the Soy Sauce Storehouse exhibit will run from April 15, 2021 to March 31, 2022 in Okayama. Head over to the company’s website for more information.
