UNIQLO to Further Sustainability Initiative With Doraemon As Ambassador

The robot feline gets dressed in green for the announcement.

As an effort to reach its sustainability goals, UNIQLO has tapped Doraemon as its official global ambassador. The anime character is appropriately dressed in green to highlight the eco-friendly initiative.

In addition to the robot cat, UNIQLO’s original red logo has also received a green makeover. With 2021 marking the 20th year of the brand’s sustainability project, Fast Retailing’s senior executive officer Koji Yanai shared at a press conference that the retailer is looking to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The label will additionally strive to become fully carbon-neutral throughout the entire supply chain.

As of now, UNIQLO has announced that Doraemon will help promote eco-friendly initiatives, while it’s unknown whether the character will appear on any upcoming collections. Stay tuned as we learn more about the environmentally friendly partnership.

In case you missed it, Doraemon appeared in a Lunar New Year capsule for Gucci earlier this year.
