Meet Homer, Frank Ocean's Newly Launched Luxury Company
The singer offers a glimpse at his first collection in a catalog.
Frank Ocean has revealed a surprise project: not new music, as fans have been eagerly awaiting, but a luxury brand called Homer.
Announced in a press release, Homer is described to be an “independent American luxury company” founded by the Blond artist. The brand, with a name that represents “carving history into stone,” is set to debut its first collection in just a few days. Unveiled in a catalog (its photography by Ocean himself and campaign imagery by Tyrone Lebon, who directed the singer’s “Nikes” music video), Homer’s inaugural range features fine and high jewelry pieces, handcrafted from 18K gold, recycled sterling silver, hand-painted enamel and with American lab-grown diamonds. Citing “childhood obsessions” and “heritage as a fantasy” as the inspiration for its playful designs, the brand will also release a selection of printed silk scarves in bold color combinations.
Another thing to look forward to, a collaboration between Prada and Homer is teased in the catalog. Although it’s unclear when the co-branded products will drop, the images — which read “coming soon” — offer a sneak peek at a mint green anorak, a blue nylon backpack and a gray bag with buckle fastening.
The brand’s exclusive first collection is slated to launch on August 9, when the Homer jewelry store officially opens in New York City. While the shop is the only physical location where the products can be purchased, global orders with complimentary shipping can be made by contacting the store on Signal — call or message +1 (212) 410 3300 — starting August 9, 10 a.m. EST.
