GCDS and Clarks Serve Up Two Grunge-Inspired Takes on the Classic Loafer Silhouette

For their first-ever footwear collection.

The inaugural collaboration between GCDS and Clarks made its debut earlier this year alongside the brand’s larger-than-life Fall/Winter 2022 collection. Coming off the Milan runway, it now prepares to launch the cutting-edge footwear range which features two original models.

In the new drop, the Italian label brings a distinct riff on its radical streetwear identity to Clarks’ timeless aesthetic. Comprising of one mule-style and another chunky platform loafer, the exclusive collection aims to make the sartorial everyday shoe more playful with extended proportions.

The mod-look, mule silhouette is crafted to a minimal shape with a rounded toe-box and a wide fastening strap that brings the focus to its silver buckle. Meanwhile, the stacked loafer comes with heavy trimming that lends to the bold lines of the shoe. Both models come dressed in daring materials including distressed leather, furry leopard-print and a GCDS exclusive Hello Kitty monogram.

Speaking on the collaboration, GCDS’ creative director Giuliano Calza says, “The aim of the project was to design the perfect shoes for both elegant and everyday use. As a kid, I always believed Clarks were the shoes for important occasions, and now, thanks to this amazing collaboration between us, I think these are the right shoes for any occasion.”

Keeping this in mind, photographer Pietro Cocco taps into the intended versatility of the loafers to produce an eclectic creative campaign. Taking place across four starkly different environments – such as a movie theater, city sidewalk, club rave and an office – it reveals how the shoes can be dressed up or down, with the addition of the GCDS Penny Pockets ankle purse.

Shop the debut GCDS x Clarks collection globally from November 4 online and in select Clarks and GCDS stores. Prices start from £230 GBP (approx. $265 USD).
