10 Beauty Brands Giving Back to the LGBTQ+ Community

Showing solidarity and strength through beauty.

Performative social media posts no longer cut it when showing solidarity. Thankfully, many beauty brands are stepping up to the plate this Pride Month to show their support. Brands are putting their money where their mouth is by launching campaigns for Pride and donating money to LGBTQ+ initiatives and nonprofits such as The Trevor Project, Marsha P. Johnson Institute and more. After all, what’s better than adding some much-needed joy into our beauty routines while supporting worthy causes?

On June 24, MALIN+GOETZ will invite everyone to pucker up for Pride and dish out the love. The brand will be handing out thousands of its cult-favorite lip balms in front of select MALIN+GOETZ stores throughout NYC, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

This Pride season, Harry’s and Flamingo are rethinking how it talks about razors and shaving with the release of their limited-edition, genderless Face & Body Pride Shave Set. 100% of all Face & Body Pride Shave Set sales will be donated to The Trevor Project. The set is now available to purchase on both Harry’s and Flamingo‘s websites.

Glow Recipe has launched its limited-edition Glow With Pride Toner, with all $15,000 USD in proceeds going to It Gets Better project and $15,000 USD in proceeds to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute. Glow Recipe’s partnership with the It Gets Better Project will help fund programs that empower LGBTQ+ youth and the Marsha P. Johnson Institute donations will provide the Black transgender community with skincare to provide positivity and inspiration through beauty.

NYX Cosmetics

NYX is celebrating gender fluidity with its 2022 Pride Collection which features an eye paint, lip oil, matte setting spray, blush and lip gloss. NYX is also continuing its ongoing partnership with the Los Angeles LGBT Center. As an additional commitment to the cause, consumers will now have the option to round up their checkout price on NYX’s website to benefit the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Flower and Spice

Flower and Spice has launched a limited edition skincare travel set that includes a moisturizer, revitalizing serum, exfoliator and brightening essence. All proceeds will go to NELFA, a charity that is advocating for LGBTQ+ families across Europe and strengthening the movement for equal rights.

Smashbox Cosmetics 

Smashbox Cosmetics will be releasing a limited-edition makeup kit on June 12 in collaboration with fashion designer Christian Cowan to celebrate Pride. The kit will feature  The Original Photo Finish Smooth & Blur Primer, Always On Cream Shadow in “Cerulean” and “Rose” in honor of the Transgender Pride flag; plus, Always On Liquid Lipstick in “Maneater.” Smashbox has made a starting grant of $2,500 USD to Ali Forney Center and remains committed to building on the investment with volunteer services to support AFC and local communities. The grant has been made in honor of the brand’s LGBTQIA+ creators: Dylan DavisStevens AñazcoIdalis RideoutKyle DallapeAniya SmithMelony LemonBella Johnson, Donnie HolmesKalista Stage, and Chime Dolker.

Rainbow Hydro-Stars are Starface’s classic Hydro-Star in rainbow color and are a permanent part of the Starface product lineup. All proceeds from the Rainbow Hydro-Stars will be allocated to the Black-Led Movement Fund and the Hetrick-Martin Institute for LGBTQ+ youth.

Queer-owned brand NOTO partnered with an eco-friendly bag company, Glob releasing a Pride Kit that includes Noto’s Agender Oil with a portion of all bundle sales going to the charity Sage in support of LGBTQ+ elders and caregivers. The campaign images and video were shot by a queer director who celebrates and provides platforms for under-represented voices like the LGBTQ community, Mollie Mills.

Boy Smells debuts its Pride collection featuring its new “Marble Fruitcandle in partnership with Gay, Lesbian & Straight Eduction Network (GLSEN), the educational organization to end discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression in K-12 schools. 15% of sales for June and July will be donated to GLSEN.

Balmain Hair Couture

Balmain Hair Couture, and non-profit, Strands for Trans, will collaborate this Pride to bring gender affirming haircuts and styling sessions to the Trans community. 10% of all Balmain Hair Couture’s US online sales throughout the month of June will be donated towards the activities, operation, and expansion of Strands for Trans.
