Fiorucci's New "59 Street" Collection Is a Love Letter to New York
Daytime’s answer to Studio 54 is back like it never left.
Fiorucci is paying tribute to its original New York concept store with an all-new collection dubbed “59 Street.” Once referred to as a “daytime Studio 54,” the NY flagship location saw icons like Elizabeth Taylor and Madonna frequently visiting and bringing together the youth of the city.
The new collection draws inspiration from 59 Street’s infectious energy, taking influence from long summer nights in a city that never sleeps. Monogram logos are fused with disco ball prints, cosmic swirls and cherry graphics from the archive, infused with a clashing color-palette of electric hues. In signature Fiorucci style, the collection boasts matching denim sets, fitted flared trousers and floaty bowling shirts.
Shot by American photographer Bryce Anderson, the campaign proposes an alternate future which sees store workers under the reign of Joey Arias, reminiscing about misadventures from the past. The influence of Artistic Director Daniel Fletcher is evident here too, with tongue-in-cheek nods to the days of partying and making mistakes.
The 59 Street collection will be available for purchase from June 23 from Fiorucci’s website.
