Is Gucci About to Become the Metaverse's Favorite Auction House?
Presenting the new (Auction) House of Gucci.
Gucci has delved even deeper into the metaverse through the House’s first online exhibit and auction. Titled “The Next 100 Years of Gucci,” the exhibition will see a range of visual artists displaying NFT artworks that encapsulate a telescopic vision of the House.
In partnership with NFT marketplace SuperRare, Gucci will showcase at the Vault Art Space, set to house a regular rotation of exhibitions within the digital realm. Marking the space’s debut, the first exhibition enlists 29 contemporary artists draw inspiration from Gucci’s past heritage and present design to create their pieces. Each piece will be showcased and auctioned off on Vault’s website in three drops, starting from today. From crypto-art natives to traditional creators, the first showcase features works from the likes of eBoy, Alanna Vanacore, An Chen, Sasha Katz and Kris Andrew Small.
Celebrating the launch, Gucci is set to host a series of Twitter Spaces conversations alongside SuperRare and artist, philosopher and curator Rowynn Dumont, who will speak to the participating artists about creating and collecting art. Following the spaces, the conversations will be recorded as episodes of the Gucci Podcast, which will be made available on all major streaming platforms.
Gucci’s move to the metaverse signals the brand’s commitment to supporting emerging talents, alongside Alessandro Michele‘s mission to push boundaries and spark change. The partnership with Vault allows the House to venture further into the realm of web3, with this exhibition being the first of many.
