Postmates Under Fire for Stealing Bottom-Friendly Pride Concept
Inside the claim that Postmates stole from a queer creator during Pride month.
This year’s Pride month — with the help of amazing queer content creators — has allowed for an expansion of solidarity outside of the usual rainbow-washing. However, food delivery service Postmates has received attention for allegedly stealing the bottom-friendly menu from queer content creator Alex Hall of the Bottom’s Digest.
Bottoming, for those who aren’t keen, is a term for sexual partners that prefer to receive anal penetration versus giving. The reason for such a thorough diet is that anal play can complicate your eating schedule if you’d like to receive pleasure without painting your partner.
As part of its Pride campaign, Postmates shared an Instagram reel that stated: “Well if you’re a top it seems like you can eat whatever you want. But if you’re a bottom, you’re expected to starve?” Encouraging queer customers to “Eat with Pride,” and try their bottom-friendly menu. Ironically, a similar post was shared by the creator of The Bottom’s Digest ahead of Pride month:
@bottomsdigest Stop staring yourself babe. It’s unnecessary 🫠 #lgbt #lgbt🌈 #lgbtq #lgbtqiaplus #lgbtqi #gay #gayy #gaytiktok #gaytok #gayhumor #queerhumor #queer #queertiktok #bi #funnyvideo #funnyvideos #eating #eathealthy #healthyeating #bottoming #bottomingtips #ibs #ibstok #selflove #selfcare #learnontiktok #gayyy #treatyourself #eat #eatwithme #pov #povs #gayguy #gayguysoftiktok🌈 #gayman ♬ original sound – CallmeBeba
The idea that Alex Hall created out of a familial passion for cooking and a goal of de-stigmatizing queer sex, has offered sex-positive support for the queer community. Especially in the face of judgment from other communities. To allegedly take this concept from a queer creator during Pride month is a major faux pas.
Major publications have since made amendments to press coverage of the Postmates campaign, crediting Alex Hall for originating the idea.
