Cheap Dates Are Winning Due to Inflation
Oof.
UK-based dating app Inner Circle, just reported that singles are cutting back on dates due to the cost of living crisis.
According to the app’s research, “the rising cost of living is causing 41% of daters to cut back on dates, while almost half say they’re now more selective about the dates they go on,” shared the press release.
Singles on the app also prefer cheaper dates over luxurious dates, putting every $200 date debate on Twitter to bed. Apparently, being a cheap date is nothing to be ashamed of with coffee and wandering dates leading as the preferred first date options. Picnics in the park and a night with wine were also preferred options.
The allure with these options is that they’re low risk, but if you truly connect with someone, there’s ample opportunity for fun. Inner Circle’s in-house dating expert Crystal Cansdale shared: “A cheap date doesn’t have to be sub-par or low effort. Our research shows singles actually prefer dates when there’s less pressure.”
To get singles back out there, Inner Circle is giving 250 cheap dates this summer. From July 20 to August 4, singles have a chance to secure their favorite cheap dates via the Inner Circle’s website.
