Faculty Challenges Gender Constructs Through the Sparkle of Glitter Nail Polish

The brand raises the bar for awareness and empathy through one lacquer at a time.

FACULTY, a brand with the ethos of gender self-expression and creativity, has released its “RAGE” nail polish and sticker collection inspired by nightlife and rave culture.

The main character of the collection is a chrome glitter nail varnish, which plays on the specific purpose of the color. FACULTY works to reset the stereotype around how society views glitter for men and sees it as a mixture of particles reflecting light at different angles. Centered around changing narratives, FACULTY’s three-piece capsule also supports the non-profit advocacy and resource coalition of Nightlife United.

Nightlife United focuses on helping and uplifting Black, POC and LGBTQIA+ businesses and workers who create safe spaces for those of their respective communities. Since 2020, the organization has distributed funds in emergency grants to nightlife individuals and has devoted its mission to provide meals for those in need through a community fridge and holiday programs.

Nightlife and rave culture is a huge inspiration for us at FACULTY,” shared FACULTY co-founder Umar ElBably in a press release. “As we were developing the products for our RAGE collection, we witnessed multiple hate crimes take place at bars and clubs in our own neighborhood. As a Bushwick-based brand, we were inspired to give back to the community that inspired this collection and highlight members of the nightlife and queer community in our campaign.”

The “RAGE” collection prices range from $15 USD to $30 USD and can be purchased via FACULTY’s website, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Nightlife United.
