Pornhub Asks Instagram Why Kim Kardashian Can Post Ass, but They Can't
In a *very* open letter backed by your favs.
Pornhub‘s name has been all over the media for unethical behavior recently, and the latest in its apparent downfall is losing access to its Instagram account. Unfortunately for Meta, the company that owns Instagram, Pornhub shared an open letter questioning its ethics.
The letter was shared by porn performer Kira Noir and questions why Instagram continues to delete the content and platforms of sex workers who carefully abide by the rules. Sex workers are a marginalized group, denied necessary resources such as safe spaces to work and access to their own bank accounts IRL.

However, on the internet, their job becomes even harder. Virtual sex work opened an avenue of safety. Platforms like Instagram with shaky censorship can delete accounts without warning, and even in the case there are warnings — they’re completely unfounded. Instagram has been a place for sex workers to create content and engage with their communities, just as any type of content creator would. But due to its subjective censorship, sex workers have become targeted.
For example, I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on PG-rated photoshoots, only to upload my work and have Instagram delete it in 30 seconds. When I inquire about a review — because I know my work does not break guidelines — I receive a “sorry” message and my work may be put back. Only then, my analytics are f-cked because it’s been an hour and I only have three likes, because Instagram didn’t let people see my work. Mind you, analytics brings in brand partnerships and clicks to my website — which is how I get paid.
See the problem? But it gets worse. Think of your favorite content creators who enjoy cosplaying slutty and pulling inspo from sex workers — like Kim Kardashian. Their work is not only left alone but praised by the media.
In the note, the porn platform asks an important question:
“Pornhub’s safe for work account has been disabled for three weeks. In the interim, Kim Kardashian has posted her fully exposed ass to her 330 million followers without any restrictive action from Instagram. We are happy to see that Kim and the artistic team behind the image are free to share their work on the platform, but question why we are denied the same treatment.
While Kim’s photo continues accumulating like and making headlines, members of the adult community run the risk of deplatforming if Instagram decides our pants look a bit too tight to meet its arbitrary and selective-enforced ‘standards.’”
