Dove has joined forces with activewear brand Nike and tennis icon Venus Williams to launch the groundbreaking “Body Confident Sport” online coaching program as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting body positivity.
The “Body Coaching Sport” program is specifically designed to empower and support young athletes in cultivating a strong sense of body confidence and self-esteem in young girls and gender-diverse individuals. By combining expert coaching techniques with the latest advancements in online learning, the program aims to provide a comprehensive and personalized approach to helping young athletes embrace their bodies and nurture a positive self-image.

Coaches play a pivotal role in shaping the experiences of girls in sports, as they have the potential to serve as influential role models who create a positive and empowering atmosphere. In this environment, the emphasis is placed on fostering self-esteem rather than solely focusing on performance. Remarkably, studies have shown that 83% of girls in the United States attribute their increased confidence to the support and guidance they receive from their coaches.

The program was developed over a span of two years, in close collaboration with esteemed experts in the field, including the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR) and the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport. By leveraging the latest research discoveries and insights, Body Confident Sport aims to equip coaches with the knowledge and tools necessary to empower girls and foster a positive body image within the sports community.
