The biggest event in fashion is finally here: The Met Gala. Fashion enthusiasts everywhere look forward to the first Monday of May, and based on what we know so far, it looks like there won’t be any disappointments this year. Keep scrolling for everything to know so far about the 2023 Met Gala.
What Is the theme?
This year, the Met Gala is honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld. “The 2023 Met Gala celebrates the opening of ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ and provides The Costume Institute with its primary source of annual funding for exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, operations and capital improvements. #ALineOfBeauty opens to the public on May 5 @metmuseum,” Dua Lipa, who’s a co-chair, previously announced.
Who are the co-chairs/hosts?
Besides Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz and Roger Federer are expected to join Anna Wintour as co-chairs at this year’s Met Gala. In addition to hosting the event, co-chairs are responsible for putting together the event, which includes “helping to put together the entire guest list to working with top chefs to create the specific menu (which is often aligned with each year’s theme,” according to Marie Claire Australia.
Who is attending?
While the guest list isn’t confirmed, there are a variety of A-Listers you can pretty much expect to be in attendance. For starters, Ice Spice may be attending for the very first time, especially since she previously teased a Vogue x eBay partnership seemingly in honor of the Met Gala. Considering Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny were recently photographed in NYC together, they could be making their first public appearance as a couple. Both Rihanna and Kim Kardashian have dropped hints on social media, teasing their attendance.
