“In our illustrations, women are stronger than men, and queer individuals possess the power to feel liberated and free.”
Sex-positive Parisian brand, Carne Bollente, unveils its Fall/Winter 2023 collection.
Inspired by the worlds of “Adam & Eve, Ancient Greek history and Japanese erotic art, Shunga,” Carne Bollente’s new collection reimagines the history of sex through a more inclusive lens, the brand shared. “In our illustrations, women are stronger than men, and queer individuals possess the power to feel liberated and free.”

Channeling the aesthetics of the 90s and early 2000s, Carne Bollente’s “alternate reality” taps several eras for insight. Seeing as the eras tapped were not technically sex-positive, the brand uses this as the foreground for a new perspective. For example, the prehistoric ages cave paintings and archives provoked the idea to include “scenes like orgies around the fire and planetary gang bangs.” The contemporary age features inspiration from “modern advertising slogans and typography with grunge and optimistic illustrations,” resulting in a loud, boisterous approach to “SEX.”
Created with sustainability and community in mind, “over 65% of the collection is carefully crafted from organic cotton and recycled denims,” shared the brand. On a sexual wellness note, “1% of all orders from our e-shop will be donated to a French association AIDES in order to fight against HIV & AIDS.”
