Oribe’s Densifying Haircare Line Made My Hair the Strongest It's Ever Been

The “Serene Scalp” trio is basically a safe, plant-based alternative to Minoxidil.

For as long as I can remember, my hair has been my comfort blanket. So you can imagine my shock when, during a scalp consultation with Oribe, I learned that not only was I losing hair, but I was also showing signs of traction — a form of hair loss caused by repetitive tension. Seeing my thinning hair up close on the scalp camera put me into panic mode. But thankfully my trichologist, a scalp and hair health specialist, had a plan.

Of course, genetics play a big role in hair health, as does nutrition and stress, but we spoke about a few things I could do. Taking vitamins and overhauling in my diet, to start, as well as using Oribe’s new Densifying Line. Comprising a shampoo, conditioner and treatment, the product trio is said to deliver results comparable to minoxidil, a medication used to treat hair loss, according to Oribe’s research. Keep reading to find out my firsthand experience and my honest take on whether it’s worth adding to your haircare routine.

Oribe’s “Serene Scalp” Densifying Haircare Collection: Why The Hype?

Aside from being risky for individuals with heart conditions, Minoxidil isn’t for everyone. Enter Oribe’s “Serene Scalp” range, which is formulated with a powerful blend of four plant-based ingredients, carefully chosen to promote thicker, fuller hair while maintaining a healthy scalp. In short, it’s a safe alternative to promote hair growth thanks to its plant-based ingredients and nourishing properties, gently and effectively.

The four plant-based ingredients include: Capixyl, a biomimetic peptide combined with red clover extract to support hair follicle health and growth; Redensyl, which reduces shedding and boost hair density; pea sprout extract, which strengthens strands from root to tip; and Oribe’s Signature Complex, which helps build keratin, protecting the hair from oxidative stress and environmental damage. After a 90-day consumer panel, around 80% of users reported thicker and fuller hair, according to the brand.

Oribe’s “Serene Scalp” Densifying Haircare Collection: How To Use

To get the best results with the Oribe “Serene Scalp” Densifying Collection, the brand recommends using all three products consistently for at least a month. First, start with the shampoo: wet your hair thoroughly, then massage the product evenly into your scalp (focusing on areas with noticeable hair thinning) for at least one minute. You’ll want to repeat this step twice. The conditioner should be applied differently from how you’d usually use this type of product. Instead of just applying it to your ends, distribute the product across your scalp, massaging it gently once again.

For your hair’s ends, you can either continue using this same conditioner or switch to one that targets specific concerns, like dryness (choose a hydrating conditioner in that case). After rinsing and detangling, finish by spraying the treatment onto your damp scalp, ensuring even coverage. Then, continue with your regular styling products. You can expect to see change after about a month, but Oribe recommends staying consistent, especially if you are experiencing noticeable thinning.

Oribe’s “Serene Scalp” Densifying Haircare Collection: An Honest Review

Speaking honestly, I’m not a big fan of washing my hair too often. I used to think that washing it less frequently would help reduce oiliness, but I’ve since learned that’s a common misconception. But still, it’s an effort. My new orders were to wash my hair more frequently and stick to my new “Serene Scalp” Densifying program, which, at first, felt like a massive shift. As a dedicated curly/wavy girl method follower – the five-step process includes brushing, washing, apply product, scrunching hair in a microfiber towel and diffusing my hair – I wasn’t exactly thrilled about adding an extra step to my routine.

At the start of the process, waiting for results can feel discouraging, especially when you’re someone who likes to see immediate change, like I do. Week one to week three of using a new product can often feel like you’re in limbo, where the effort feels like it’s not yielding much.  I stuck with it though, and by week four I started seeing small signs of growth.

By week five, the change was noticeable. My hair felt stronger, shinier and I could see more fullness on my scalp. It’s been a journey, but one that was (and continues to be) worth it in the end. There’s the added bonus of the fresh, minty smell which feels like a spa experience in and of itself.

The Final Verdict

While it’s always best to first identify the root cause of your hair loss, this collection also works to improve the overall health of your hair, making it suitable for just about anyone. After using it for over a month, I saw a noticeable improvement in both thickness and fullness. I’m excited to continue on this journey and see how things progress.
