Inside Hypebae’s HQ: Rating the Team’s Outfits ‘Runway’ Magazine Style
In celebration of the release of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2,’ Hypebae partnered with 20th Century Studios to see if our HQ dresses are runway approved.

With all the buzz and anticipation around The Devil Wears Prada 2 hitting theaters next month, it’s the perfect time to revisit its iconic predecessor, The Devil Wears Prada. From the unforgettable fashions and witty quotable lines to the larger-than-life characters, the mid-2000s movie left a lasting mark on our cultural zeitgeist in the best way possible. Working for Miranda Priestly at Runway Magazine – or better yet, being the editor-in-chief of the fictional fashion publication – was the ultimate dream for anyone obsessed with fashion. Here at Hypebae, we’re channeling the spirit of Meryl Streep’s iconic character as we check to see if the office ’fits at our HQ are runway-approved.

At our office, the hustle is just as important as haute couture and our team knows this better than anyone. While some of our Baes have a flair for all things fun, flirty, and feminine that scream spring – like our Social Editor Patty Orem – others prefer a dark, monochromatic moment for a look you’ll never forget. As a Creative Editor at Hypebae – and someone eagerly anticipating The Devil Wears Prada 2 – I know all about the art of a killer-yet-corporate friendly outfit. I took this insight with me as our hotties broke down their 9-to-5 fits and rated them right after.

Orem was the first to step up to the plate, playing with textures by pairing a fuzzy turtleneck and a brown fur bag with a to-die-for leather trench coat – leaving absolutely no crumbs. Though, can the same be said for the rest of our office mates? Well, at the end of the day, style is all about self-expression and at Hypebae, that’s what we celebrate the most. Following Orem’s ‘fit, we had a lovely lineup of all black looks that truly took me aback. This power trio – our Experiential Producer Rochelle Bennett, Creative Project Manager Manni Arango and Editor Nico Gavino – stood out with billowing silhouettes, love-it-or-hate-it split-toe shoes, perfect pleats and tailored suiting, all dipped in black from head-to-toe – truly runway approved.

Rounding out our lineup of runway-approved-or-not-approved office looks, we caught a glimpse of a girly ensemble with just the right touch of edge. Channeling her inner biker chick, Kimberly Hurd, Brand Partnerships Manager, styled an oversized leather jacket with a white, flowy skirt and black combat boots, striking that perfect balance for the spring. Playing with patterns and a cinched corset, our Brand Partnerships Manager, Brittanaé Smith-McGee, brought some power to her look, pairing the standout top with a crisp white button-down, classic black leggings, and shades that were made for the season.

So, what’s the word? Is the Hypebae HQ runway-approved and ready for the return of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada 2? Check out our video above to see who made the cut – and how we rated our hotties.
