Is 'The Idol' Season 1 Finale Really Next Week?

Here’s everything we know.

The Weeknd and HBO‘s The Idol comes to a screeching end.

According to Deadline, The Idol‘s season finale will be Sunday, July 2. Unlike other HBO series, the highly anticipated show will only feature five episodes, instead of the previously confirmed six. It appears the show was shortened after its original creator, Amy Seimtez, left.

It has also been rumored that the series will not return for Season 2 due to the backlash and controversy. Whereas some people hate watch shows, it appears The Idol pushed the envelope entirely too far with mentions of violent sex in so far, each episode.
