Nanushka Buttons up for Its Resort 2025 Collection, "Refastened"
Marrying tradition with modernity.
Nanushka reinvigorates the tried and true biker aesthetic for its Resort 2025 collection, “Refastened.”
Inspired by founder and creative director Sandra Sándor’s teenage years in Budapest, the nostalgic capsule merges motifs from classic Western films with an ’80s grunge vibe and ’90s sporty demeanor, resulting in an assortment of apparel that walks the fine line between tradition and modernity. “Between watching Western films, to spending time as a child in my mother’s childrenswear business. It’s these human moments that have inspired such personal designs within the collection, referencing Nanushka’s past, present and future,” Sándor shares in an exclusive press release.
The collection experiments with textiles, utilizing laser cutting technology and hand-cut fringes to create one-of-a-kind garments. Core pieces from Nanushka’s archives make an appearance, reimagined with the help of material upcycling, featuring OkoborTM and Regenerated Leather. Fragile papier-mâché is transformed into plentiful tassels, accenting dramatic outerwear.
Meanwhile, hardy cotton is juxtaposed by carefully crinkled satin and twill silk. Austere gowns are outfitted with padding on the elbows and wrists, nodding to rough and ready biking culture, while stretched velvet and jersey mimic sportswear. Elsewhere, elegant gowns defy expectations with the addition of shoulder cut-outs and masterful draping. Accessories hold their own as the collection introduces the hand crotched Sandi Bag, which boasts an ornate brushed gold origami lock to fasten the purse.
