Nike's Women's-Exclusive Purple and Red Air Max 98 Is a Retro Essential

Take it back to the ’90s.

Nike’s Air Max 98 is probably one of the most retro-looking silhouettes in the brand’s roster, so its fitting that it would see an increase in popularity now as we look to the ’90s for style inspiration. Having released in a soft, neutral “Phantom” colorway recently, the latest edition is for those who prefer their sneakers with a bolder edge.

The mixed-material upper is seen with a white leather panel across the middle and grey mesh with purple stripes detailed throughout. Additionally, there are purple leather hits above the midsole, the midfoot and the tongue and the textile sockliner and heel tab also match. To contrast, there are pink-red design details on the lace loops, Swoosh branding on the lateral side and tongue and in the “AIR” text on the heel. To complete, the sneaker has a white midsole with visible Air Max cushioning in red and a black outsole.

You can shop this women’s-only Air Max 98 on Nike.com soon where it’s rumored to retail at $160 USD. For an even more out-there look, check out Nike’s Air Max 97 in “Hyper Jade.”
