Hit the Virtual Slopes With Balenciaga's New Skiwear Game

Available online and via WeChat.

It’s about time that Balenciaga got into the skiwear game, especially considering that oversized puffer jackets and icy cool shades feature heavily within both the brand and the sport’s uniform. As a result, the Paris-based label announced the release of its first-ever Skiwear Collection back in October and now, it’s turning into a virtual game experience.

A specially developed video game has been designed to showcase the collection in its most immersive form, available on any device. Featuring two avatar options, each kitted out in animated versions of Balenciaga’s skiwear, the game sees players challenged with the task of traversing a ski slop in extreme weather conditions. As players advance, the game’s speed increases, with the ultimate goal being to stay on the slope for as long as possible.

Comprising technical garments, accessories and ski gear, the game mimics that of the collection, which features thermal separates, protective outerwear, gloves, footwear and eyewear alongside ski gear like poles, packs and a snowboard. Crafted with Balenciaga’s distinctive design principles in mind, the collection utilizes the furthest advancements within the world of snow sports manufacturing, fusing high-impact with apres-ski.

Elsewhere, Balenciaga’s new skis and snowboards are crafted with mirror-polished Titanal for added precision, responsiveness and high-speed stability. The collection’s footwear offering lands in the form of the new Alaska Boot, arriving in leather, nylon and fake fur iterations complete with removable chains.

The game is set to run from December 11 to January 31, with the best players in each zone ranked and winners receiving physical Balenciaga ski locks from the collection. For users in China, head to WeChat to access the game, otherwise available at the brand’s microsite.

Take a closer look at the collection above and while you’re here, check out Edward Cuming’s new CUM jeans.
